Every week, Rhode Island workers are injured in car accidents while doing their jobs — making deliveries, driving between job sites, visiting clients, running errands for an employer, or driving as part of their normal work duties.
When that happens, many people are unsure what to do next.
Does workers’ compensation cover it?
Does auto insurance get involved?
Do you need a lawyer?
Who pays for treatment?
The answer is: you may have more than one claim or insurance avenue available — and Cityside Chiropractic helps coordinate the process so you do not have to figure it out alone.
Car Accidents at Work Are More Common Than You Think
If you were driving for work purposes when the crash occurred, your injury may qualify as a work-related injury. Depending on the facts of the case, workers’ compensation insurance, auto insurance, or a personal injury claim may be involved.
This may include accidents that happen while:
Making deliveries or pickups
Driving between job sites or office locations
Running a work errand
Driving a company vehicle
Using your personal vehicle for work
Traveling to or from a client visit, sales call, or work assignment
Driving as part of your job duties
These cases can become confusing because they often sit at the intersection of workers’ compensation and personal injury. That is where proper documentation and insurance coordination matter.
You Focus on Getting Better. We Help Handle the Rest.
At Cityside Chiropractic, we treat both workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident injuries. When you come in after a work-related car accident, our office helps coordinate the details, including:
Insurance communication
We work with the appropriate workers’ compensation carrier, auto insurance company, or attorney’s office depending on your case.
Paperwork and documentation
From the first visit through your course of care, we document your injuries, treatment, progress, and functional limitations.
Attorney coordination
If you already have a personal injury attorney, we communicate with their office. If you do not have an attorney, we can still evaluate and treat you through the appropriate insurance process.
Objective injury documentation
Clear clinical documentation matters in both workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. It helps show what was injured, how your condition is progressing, and what treatment may be needed.
Do I Need a Lawyer to Be Treated at Cityside Chiropractic?
No. You do not need an attorney to be evaluated at Cityside Chiropractic after a work-related car accident.
We treat patients with and without legal representation. If you have an attorney, we coordinate with them. If you do not, we work directly with the appropriate insurance carrier when possible.
Either way, the first step is the same: you come in, we evaluate your injuries, document your condition, and help determine the next appropriate step.
What Happens at Your First Visit?
Your first visit is a comprehensive injury evaluation. We do not treat work-related car accident injuries like a rushed intake.
Depending on your symptoms and exam findings, your evaluation may include:
Orthopedic and neurological examination
Objective range of motion testing
Balance and stability assessment
Spinal imaging review or analysis when appropriate
Neurocognitive or concussion-related screening when indicated
Documentation of pain, limitations, and functional impact
After your evaluation, we review your findings and determine whether continued care is appropriate. If treatment is recommended, our office helps coordinate insurance authorization, billing, and documentation.
Work-Related Car Accidents Deserve Proper Documentation
A car accident during the workday is not “just a car accident.” It may also be a workplace injury.
That means your care should be properly documented from the beginning. The details matter: how the crash happened, what body parts were injured, how your symptoms affect work, and whether your injuries are improving over time.
At Cityside Chiropractic, we focus on injury evaluation, treatment, and documentation for complex motor vehicle and work-related injury cases.
