What Does a Work Injury Chiropractor Do?

If you’ve been hurt at work and someone tells you to see a chiropractor, your first question might be: what exactly is a work injury chiropractor going to do for me — and how does that help my workers' compensation claim?
It’s a fair question. And the answer matters more than most people realize.
A Work Injury Evaluation Is Not a Regular Chiropractic Visit
There’s a significant difference between a general chiropractic appointment and a proper work injury evaluation. A general visit might address pain and stiffness. A work injury evaluation documents what actually happened to your body — and that documentation is what your workers comp claim depends on.
At Cityside Chiropractic, your first visit is a comprehensive examination, not a quick intake. We’re not just trying to get you adjusted and out the door. We’re building a clinical record that tells the full story of your injury.
What We Actually Do at Your First Visit
Injury history. We start by understanding exactly how the injury happened, what you felt immediately after, and how your symptoms have changed since. The mechanism of injury matters clinically and for your claim.
Objective testing. This is where Cityside is different. We use advanced diagnostic tools that produce measurable, objective findings — not just your description of how you feel. This includes:
• Balance and stability testing to assess how your injury has affected neurological and vestibular function
• Spinal imaging analysis to evaluate structural changes from the injury
• Range of motion measurement with objective data, not estimates
• Neurocognitive screening when a head impact or concussive event may have occurred
Clinical findings report. Everything we find is documented in a clear, detailed report. This becomes part of your workers comp file and supports your claim with objective evidence.
Why Objective Testing Matters for Your Claim
Workers compensation carriers look for objective findings. Subjective complaints — meaning your description of pain, stiffness, or discomfort — are important, but they are not enough on their own to fully support a claim, especially if it becomes disputed.
Objective findings are measurable. They show up in test results, imaging, and standardized assessments. They are harder to challenge and easier to defend. When your injury is documented with objective data from the start, your claim is on much stronger footing.
This is why the quality of your first evaluation matters so much. What gets documented at the beginning of your case follows your claim all the way through.
We Handle Everything After Your First Visit
Once we complete your evaluation and determine that continued care is appropriate, we take over all the coordination so you don’t have to think about it.
We communicate directly with your workers comp carrier. We handle billing and authorization. If you have an attorney, we coordinate with their office. You come in for your visits and focus on getting better — the administrative side is handled.
You Deserve More Than a Basic Exam
A work injury deserves a thorough evaluation. Not a rushed assessment, not a generic treatment plan, and not documentation that leaves gaps in your clinical record.
